Aiming to make it easier for taxpayers to settle their tax debts, the National Finance Policy Council ( CONFAZ) has authorized the implementation of a program to settle ICMS debts within the state of Rio Grande do Sul in installments, whether or not they are registered as active debts, whether or not they have been filed. The program provides for a significant reduction in interest, fines and other legal additions for debts due by 31/12/2024.
The reduction can be up to 100% of interest, fines and legal additions, as long as the payment is made in a single installment. In addition, installments can be made in two other ways: i) a reduction of up to 90% of the charges, with payment in up to 18 monthly installments; ii) a reduction of up to 50% of the charges, with payment in up to 120 monthly installments.
It should be noted that the maximum period for joining the program will be up to 180 days from its establishment, allowing all taxpayers with ICMS debts to benefit from significant reductions and settle their debts.
The installment plan in question is pending regulation by the state of Rio Grande do Sul, but it will be an important opportunity for taxpayers once it is set up. CPDMA’s Tax Team will report as soon as there are any new developments.
